 Using Accessories to Decorate your Home on a budget

Like our personal style, our home style can reflect our personality.

When our home or our clothes do not reflect our true personality we have a clash. We feel uncomfortable, less confident and less happy.

The great thing about accessorizing your home is that you can change the look and feel of a room without spending much money at all. Turn your home into a sanctuary where you can relax, be yourself and feel happy when you walk into a room.

Here are a few ways you can add your personal touch to your surroundings:

Rugs/Floor mats

Floor rugs add comfort, warmth and style to your home – you can go neutral or add a pop of colour that compliments your room.

Choose a rug that suits your room and lifestyle in a colour, fabric and design that you love.

 

Lamps

I love lamps – they literally light up a room!

You can also use them to add colour and interest to a room.

 

Mirrors

Mirrors can open up a room and make it appear bigger, they can add elegance and style to any room.

 

Wall art

Prints, art work and wall stickers can add your personality to a room. If you find a picture or print you adore, you can even design your colour scheme around that!

 

 

Home made art works can also add a unique touch of style to a room.

Cushions

Want an instant makeover for your couch? Add cushions! 

This is where you can go a little crazy and go bold if you like. Don’t be scared to mix and match colours, patterns and textures to add interest.

 

 

 

Revamp, Recycle, Repurpose

Have a piece that you love the design but the colour doesn’t work? Make it work – A coat of paint on some old photo frames or an old lamp can make all the difference.

Is there another purpose you can use it for? A pretty bathroom tumbler can make a nice pencil holder; a revamped terracotta pot can be used to store kitchen utensils. Think outside the box and see what you can come up with!
